A Look Into Healthcare Priorities for 2023

This educational program will highlight several key legislative and regulatory initiatives identified
as top priorities for physician practices in 2023. With the public health emergency nearing its end,
issues such has expanding access to telehealth services, renewed efforts for healthcare billing
transparency, and new aggressive government enforcement efforts to minimize fraud and abuse
will be addressed. The speaker will discuss critical reimbursement and coverage changes to the
Medicare/Medicaid programs and the impact on physician practices and the beneficiaries they
serve. The session will also include a nonpartisan analysis of the first few months of the 118th
Congress and the Biden Administration’s focus on critical health care initiatives and ones that
have been tabled.
The audience will also be informed about ways to become compliant with the new rules under the
No Surprises Act, including timely changes to their existing provider organization processes.

considerations for implementing strategic change within your practice. Attendees will learn about
recent changes to practice standards, the purpose and intent behind these chapters, and timeline

in current process, and will discuss ways to overcome implementation barriers. Practices can

development of a roadmap for success.

Kathleen’s passion for creating healthy work environments is infectious. She is an expert on hospital
culture and speaks internationally to hospital boards, the military, leadership, and staff about safety,
communication, cultural change, and power.
With a background in sociology and past positions in marketing, business, communications, and
teaching, Kathleen approaches the work environment with a fresh perspective, allowing her to probe
into the human side of the healthcare industry

Medicaid coverage due to the end of COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE)

With the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE) ending on May 11, 2023, states will begin
to reinstate their yearly Medicaid eligibility reviews which will result in many recipients losing
their Medicaid coverage due to no longer meeting the qualifications for Medicaid. Through this
discussion, the participants will gain an understanding of the upcoming Medicaid Unwinding process
and why it’s important to proactively screen, educate, and navigate your patients through the
potential loss of Medicaid coverage. The speaker will also discuss the Unwinding Special Enrollment
Period (SEP) that will be available through the ACA Health Insurance Marketplace. Through case-
based discussion, the participant will understand the impact of the Medicaid Unwinding on your
patients and practice.
